  • Palmer Launch “Roxanne”

    Palmer Launch “Roxanne”

“Roxanne” is a beautiful Palmer Launch with quite a history on Lake Winnipesaukee. After its sale the new owners came to us wanting to bring some new life back into her. She was sorely in need of a new floor, some attention to the plank seams on the bottom, varnish work, some woodworking around the cockpit and some engine work.

The customer opted for Southern Yellow Pine for the floorboards, which did a great job at brightening up the interior. A new trim piece was fashioned to fit around the cockpit, the seams on the bottom were cleaned out, sealed and caulked, fresh bottom paint was also applied. We gave the brightwork a few much needed coats of varnish and painted the sides as well.

Finally the engine was gone over by our mechanic, making “Roxanne” run as good as she ever has. She can be seen motoring around the Lake Winnipesaukee and has been seen in our annual boat show as well!

  • SOLD 26′ Lyman “Broads View III”

SOLD 26′ Lyman “Broads View III”

Back in the shop is the great 26′ Lyman Broads View III. The work outlined for the season was to continue bringing the interior stain colors back to as original Lyman stain, departing from the Red Mahogany stain with which the boat had been refinished many years ago.

We removed whatever pieces we could, jump seats, trim boards etc. to work them on a table. We then taped off areas to protect in the boat and began stripping. Selected areas were brought to bare wood, re-stained with the traditional Golden Walnut stain, and given our usual 12 coats of varnish. We also treated some soft keel wood with a few applications of epoxy, to seal and maintain the wood.

Little steps like this throughout the ownership of your boat go a long way to preventing larger jobs, like replacing planks or frames. Some attention was also paid to the stem, where more of the same treatment was done.

We then gave Broads View III her yearly coat of Deks Olje on the deck and windshield, summerized her and she was off to the big lake!

  • 16′ Carleton Square Stern Canoe

    16′ Carleton Square Stern Canoe

Up for sale is my beautifully maintained square sterned Carleton canoe, with sponsons. It is 16 feet long, 47 inches wide and 15 inches deep. The bottom is V-shaped beginning amidships and from there astern is nearly flat. This design assures speed, stability and sea-worthiness.

The stern seat slides forward and back to adjust to the motor operator’s comfort. This craft enjoys unusual popularity wherever it is used and is adaptable alike to lakes, rivers, ocean or streams. The canvas is in GREAT shape and since it was completely and professionally replaced in 2004 it has only seen one season in the water. Included is a Johnson 2hp motor to get you around.

I’ve had many good times on this boat with my wife, having picnics and just cruising around. I encourage anyone who is looking for a unique canoe to pick this up and enjoy the next boating season in style.
